Women love to be showered with romantic gifts likeshoes, jewelry and so on, not forgetting what dentists call the “galvanic effect” of eating in an expensive restaurant, going shopping sexy handbags, and fashionable clothes, perhaps in a mall.

Fortunately, online shops have been coming up with new romantic fashions that can please your lover, with lots of inspirational and romantic items like jewelry, shoes, fashion clothes and other beauty items. However, as time goes on the relationship blossoms and it even becomes more difficult to surprise your lovely catch with gifts, most probably because you have given her the whole world by now.

In China for example, there are more important things in life than love and happiness. “Most women prefer to rather cry in a BMW than smile on a bicycle”.

The Marriage Laws outlawed polygamy, child marriages and arranged marriages. They gave women equality, and stipulate free choice of marriage partners without others party interference.

However it is imperative for the young couples to make the right decision because it will affect not only the rest of their life, but also the well-being of their elderly parents.
On the other hand, the expectation that the women have to be younger than their husbands, and earn less than them, maybe not work for intelligent young women who want to have a career. However the older they get, the less chance they have of getting married. And, if they do get married, they will be expected to put their career on hold to bear children.

Apart from arranged marriages, Chinese parents engage in matchmaking, thus improving the chance of a suitable match. It is important that the husband and wife come from similar social status, as it is believed that a mismatch here is bound to end in failure.

Accordingly in choosing a spouse, the man must be older than the girl, and he must earn more than her, have a good education, have a job, and own property.
Physical appearance here and dressing code is considered very important. Being attractive will influence job potentials and body postures are good indications of worthiness and character. 

Parents often secretly advertise their marriage ready child with information about their age, height, job, income, education, and zodiac sign. Family values, personality, picture and specific requirements for a suitable match are also included, as if it were a sell.
The parents’ in turn meet with the prospective in-laws to get an indication of what the child is really like, in order to allow  their offspring dating and eventually lead to a successful marriage.

There is however fairly success rate low in this form of arrangements as the children are sometime not happy for their parents to be doing this, and so it is often done secretly without telling them.

All this reminds me of my first girlfriend “Lynne” and whenever we meet, she ribs me by calling me her first sweetheart. She had always referred to me as her exquisite somebody, a word sometimes I look up in a big oxford dictionary.
