The Health Benefits of Papaya

The fruit Papaya is a plant that originated from southern Mexico and northern South America, which has long been widespread and widely grown in tropical regions. Papaya, the largest native food in North America, is multipurpose plants for almost all the parts have benefits for humans and animals, from the roots to the leaves, using it as food, beverages, medicines, cosmetics or as animal feed.

The Mayans used to worship papaya trees and called it the “Tree of Life”. It is said to be one of the favorite fruits of Christopher Columbus, because when his crew landed in America after a long sea voyage on meager meal, the native people welcomed them with much feast, which caused digestive problems. The Native Americans took the voyagers to the forest and offered them papaya and they got cured.

Papaya can be used to treat:

     1.  Body's immunity
Eating papaya is believed to increase your body's immunity against disease. That is because it’s rich in vitamin A and vitamin B that is needed to improve and boast the immunity. When papaya green leaves are dried, crushed and mixed with hot water and taken, it cures malaria. And when mixed with orange juice, it’s said to treats eczema.

2.  Wound healing

Papaya fruit can assist the body in the healing of wounds, especially burns, because it contains the enzymes that is useful to reduce inflammation and get rid of dead skin tissue from the injured skin. In addition, several other diseases also can be more severe when the body becomes inflamed. Papaya juice helps in curing infections of the colon by clearing the pus and mucus from it. You need to take it regularly to heal quickly. For this reason, papaya fruit is also recommended to be consumed by people who are sick.

3.  Constipation & Anti aging 

Papaya helps in preventing constipation and aids in digestion. Papaya has papain, a digestive enzyme that helps in natural digestion. The Papaya fruit is believed by medics to control premature aging, by helping the body to digest food properly. When the body properly digests all the nutrients needed, then it will be healthier and function normally.

4.  Cholesterol in the liver

Papaya being a fruit that is rich in fiber lowers blood cholesterol levels. It contains enzymes that help prevent oxidization of cholesterol in the liver, and lower levels automatically which in return helps to prevent heart diseases and stroke.

5.  Increase male virility

Papaya is able to increase virility because they contain an enzyme called arginine. Arginine is a substance that can increase blood flow in the penis. The arginine substance also increases the nitric acid in the body that relaxes the muscles around blood vessels that supply the genitals. The blood vessels will dilate and blood flow to the penis will increase.

6.  Kidney disorder

In poison related kidney disorder, the aqueous seed extract of the unripe mature fruits of papaya induces antioxidant and oxidative free radical scavenging, and help the kidney to recover. Papaya when mixed with onions can work on your kidney.

7.  Morning Sickness & Menstrual Irregularities

In pregnant ladies, regular consumption of a small slice of papaya helps to cure nausea and morning sickness. It also helps in controlling the menstrual irregularities in women. Papaya helps to ease menstrual cramps and helps in promoting regular flow of menstruation.

The leaves, seeds and the milk of the papaya tree are used to cure intestinal problems and kill intestinal worms and parasites. Women from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh use them to prevent pregnancy and for abortion.
